“In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards.” Mark Twain
Well, we know that statement isn’t exactly true, though it undoubtedly does contain some truth. But since anyone with their eyes wide open must admit the truth that the more educated one is by the “educated” elite, the more their abilities to perceive simple truths become.
Church leaders demand that anyone with any responsibility in the congregation be more educated. But so many go off to Seminary or Bible College and end up becoming Liberal, Agnostic, or worse. They then commence turning all those they teach to become just as they are. Though this qote is not entirely applicable it is close enough: Matt 23:15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.”
Time to wake up and take responsibility!
While most people in the pews today are half asleep and totally unaware they should be alert and protect the truth of the Word of God, they are not. Those who are aware of what has been happening to the Church for the past two-thousand years and speak the truth of what they see are vilified. Brothers and sisters in Christ, this ought not to be the case.
Speak the truth to error lest error win out. Zech 8:16-17 “These are the things which you should do: speak the truth to one another; judge with truth and judgment for peace in your gates. ‘Also let none of you devise evil in your heart against another, and do not love perjury; for all these are what I hate,’ declares the LORD.”
I am not saying teaching in the Word is not required for one to be appointed to a position in the Church, what I am saying is that we must be certain that the teaching one is receiving is biblically sound. When we send our children off to Bible College are we fully informed of what is taught there? When the Pastor recommends a class to one of his brothers or sisters does he realize his responsibility?
Rev 22:18-19 “Testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.”
Some might think I’m applying this quote in a context it doesn’t fit, but I will apply it anyway, probably because I never attended a Bible college or a Seminary.
Brothers and sisters, we have a duty, an obligation, if we are indeed the children of our Heavenly Father to proclaim the truth. Along with that obligation comes the responsibility, to the best of our God-given ability, steer those we love away from error. When we send those who will teach us the Word of God off to an institution of error we are not fulfilling our responsibility as stewards of the Word. These institutions who teach error, who teach theories and practices that are not explicitly in the Word of God are adding to or taking away from the Word of God; their judgment will be both swift and just when they face God on that day.
Nuff said I think, for this post anyway.
